Enabling Catchall mail leads to receiving spam mail
Enabling Catchall mail leads to receiving spam mail
Solution
We understand you are having issues with a lot of spam. This is not surprising as your email address is the catch-all for the account, meaning any email that is addressed to a non-legitimate email, you will receive.
ie:
cliff2@yourdomainname.com
.. ,
sailing@yourdomainname.com
.. etc.. you will receive all of these.
Someone from your office may have set this up in this way, as by default, we :fail any incorrectly addressed emails and have done for a number of years.
Enter into Cpanel, go to "Default Email AddresS" and change the default email ID to "Discard with error to sender (at SMTP time)"
that will quickly reduce the levels of spam you are receiving.
